LeBron James calls NCAA 'corrupt' amid FBI recruiting scandal

By Usa today

Cleveland Cavaliers forward LeBron James called the NCAA "corrupt" on Tuesday in wake of multiple reports implicating major NCAA players and programs in the FBI's ongoing investigation into illegal recruiting.

"The NCAA is corrupt, we know that," James told reporters Tuesday at the Cavs' shootaround. "Sorry, it's going to make headlines. But it's corrupt."

The NBA superstar also proposed that every NBA team should have a "farm system" and that it could be a substitute for the NCAA. He said that's for a "longer dialogue" he'd like to have with NBA commissioner Adam Silver.

James, who came to the NBA out of high school prior to the one-and-done rule's enactment, played under Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski for two Olympic gold medal teams. Krzyzewski said over the weekend that it's a "horrible time for the game" of college basketball.

An explosive report from Yahoo! Sports last week revealed details of a federal investigation that implicates numerous programs and players tied to former NBA agent Andy Miller. An ESPN story over the weekend reported Arizona coach Sean Miller was caught on an FBI wiretap discussing a $100,000 payment to freshman DeAndre Ayton.
