Passenger tries to open cabin door after attacking crew with coffee pots
An Air Canada passenger is in hot water for swinging coffee pots at crew members and then trying to open the cabin door, according to a report.
The flight was en route from Montego Bay, Jamaica, to Toronto on Monday night when Brandon Michael Courneyea began yelling at other passengers “for looking at him,” WFTV reported.
He then ran to the back of the plane, where he grabbed a pot of coffee from the galley and swung it at flight attendants, according to a federal complaint.
“Courneyea then stated that it would only take one guy to take the plane down and that he wanted to take everyone with him,” according to the complaint.
When he grabbed a second pot of coffee, a flight attendant rushed in out of concern for the passengers.
“When confronted (by the flight attendant), Courneyea lunged for the rear cabin exit door and began to pull the door lever up to open the door,” the complaint said.
Crew members and other passengers stripped him of his home-brewed weapons, then bound him to his seat using zip ties after the 45-minute ruckus.
After his buzzkill, the plane landed at Orlando International Airport, where he was arrested by the feds.
He was charged with assault or intimidation of a flight crew member or flight attendant and interfering with the performance of duties.
