Saint Lucia Government Extends Condolences following London Attack
By Office of the Prime Minister:
Prime Minister Honourable Allen M. Chastanet met with Resident British High Commissioner Steve McCready on March 23rd 2017 and offered condolences on behalf of the Government and People of Saint Lucia in relation to the recent attack at the Houses of Parliament in Westminster. Four persons reportedly died in the attack which took place in London on Wednesday 22nd March 2017. The Prime Minister conveyed the deepest sympathies of the Saint Lucian people to the Government of the United Kingdom.
Said the Prime Minister: “The Government and People of Saint Lucia received with sadness the news of the deadly attack which claimed innocent lives and left many wounded. We offer prayers for the families, loved ones and friends of all who are affected by this senseless tragedy.
“This was not just an attack on the British Parliament but an attack on democracy. There are those amongst us who are influenced by hate and extremist views and who seek to instill fear and division. We condemn all acts of terrorism and stand in solidarity with you as you seek to bring those who perpetrate such repugnant acts to justice.
“We express hope for healing and a renewed sense of determination to conquer the dreadful scourge of extremism. The Government and People of Saint Lucia continue to support all who promote peace and unity.”
