1.5 tons of cannabis seized by the frigate "Ventose" and handed over to the Venezuelan authorities

The maritime surveillance frigate, the Ventose carried out an inspection on a fishing vessel in the Caribbean Sea on December 7.
This operation was conducted by the admiral commanding the maritime zone of the West Indies under the direction of the prefect of Martinique delegate of the government for the action of the League of the State at sea.
The sailors of the team boarded and found many bales. They all tested positive for herbal cannabis.
On the basis of the identification documents, the Venezuelan nationality of the fishing vessel was established.
In accordance with international regulations on drug trafficking, as the Venezuelan authorities did not wish to relinquish their jurisdiction, the "Ventose" headed south to hand over the crew, vessel and cargo to the Venezuelan authorities.
