1 death and 2 arrests, following the seizure of more than 750 kilos of cocaine off Martinique waters

751.02 kilos of cocaine in black packaging, this is the beautiful photo unveiled by customs officials in Martinique this morning (December 16, 2020). The seizure made during the night of Thursday 10 to Friday 11 December 2020 off the commune of Vauclin.
The drugs were loaded on a (go-fast), ultra-fast boat, a 9-meter speedboat, equipped with two 300 horsepower engines, A boat intercepted nevertheless, by that of the customs officers of the Marine's surveillance brigade.
The traffickers were arrested around 1am Friday morning. They are a 44-year-old Martinican and a 29-year-old Venezuelan , indicted and placed in pre-trial detention.
This is the biggest drug seizure on the island since the start of the year according to the Fort de France prosecutor.
A body off
The day after the drug seizure, a kitesurf practitioner discovered the body of a dead man off Pointe Faula in Vauclin, not far from the intervention of customs officers.
The two men in custody admitted that the victim was part of the crew of the speedboat. The autopsy of his body is scheduled for Wednesday (December 16, 2020). " He would have thrown himself into the sea when the customs officers arrived ," according to one of the two men in custody, during his hearing at the investigators' premises in Fort-de-France. The two traffickers will soon be brought before an investigating judge.
15 million euros ...
The cocaine had to pass through Fort-de-France before being shipped to France. These 750 kilos could have been resold for 20,000 euros per kilo and bring in around 15 million euros.
On a trip to Martinique last week, Defense Minister Florence Parly also announced that the Navy had seized on November 10 nearly 290 kg of cocaine by intercepting another go-fast at sea.
