During the week of Monday 22 to Sunday 28 February 2021, the Regional Health Agency notes 121 new cases of coronavirus in Martinique against 58 for the week of 15 to 21 February 2021.
Martinique lists 100 cases of English variants on the island during this same period.
Jérôme Vigiuer, director of the ARS gave an update on the rise in the burden of the Covid-19 epidemic on our island.
The positivity rate increased by 3% (number of people testing positive for the first time compared to the total number of people testing positive or negative over a given period).
14 people are hospitalized and 3 patients are in intensive care at the University Hospital of Martinique.
The Regional Health Agency estimates that the virus is still present in the territory of Martinique. It is therefore necessary to always be very careful and to respect the protective measures and to be vaccinated.
The number of vaccinated people who have received at least one injection is 4,925 to date.
The duration of isolation of confirmed or probable cases of SARS-CoV2 is harmonized to 10 days whether it concerns the wild virus or the so-called “British”, “South African” and “Brazilian” variants.
The epidemiological indicators of SARS-CoV2 in Martinique indicate a slight increase in viral circulation, with no impact to date on the healthcare system. The UK variant has been circulating in an autochthonous manner and at low noise among the population since the end of January.
Vigilance must remain in place in the coming weeks by maintaining individual prevention and contact reduction measures.
