Faces of Cancer observes International Women’s Day
By Faces of Cancer
March 8th is observed Globally as International Women’s Day. The 2021 International Women’s Day campaign theme is #choosetochallenge. On this day, Faces of Cancer St. Lucia will be observing with women all over the world as we too face several Challenges especially with our healthcare.
Covid -19 has served a tremendous blow to our organization as it continues to limit our projects which would bring tremendous relief to those affected by cancer. Notwithstanding, we continue to push forward as we are determined to reduce the cancer burden in St. Lucia and seek to reduce the amount of stage four first time diagnosis amongst cancer patients.
On Monday March 8 th 2021 at 7:00 pm Faces of Cancer St. Lucia will be hosting a Zoom Round Table Discussion on Women Cancers. These include Endometrium, Cervical, Ovarian and Breast cancer. Our Panelists will include four Gynecologists and an Oncologist. This event is open to the public and there will be a time allotted for Questions and answers. The link to this event will be available on the Faces of Cancer St. Lucia face book page.
From 2020 we have seen a drop in patients being screened for cancer, and we are hoping that this event will see more women carry out their responsibility by getting Screened. On this day Faces of Cancer will also be unveiling our Early Detection Program which we will be incorporating into all our Health Fairs around St. Lucia.
According to the Organizations President, Mrs. Dorothy Phillip, “Our Cancer community is living in very Challenging Times which has been compounded by Covid-19, we have chosen to stand with our cancer community, and we are
prepared to push forward for greater outcomes.”
Faces of Cancer St. Lucia is a cancer support group and has been serving St. Lucia for the past twelve years, we are committed to raising cancer awareness in St. Lucia and assisting the community in navigating the difficult obstacles one faces along the cancer journey.
