Mr. Alex Bousquet and Mr. Willie James

My deepest condolences to Saint Lucia’s media fraternity following the loss of Mr. Willie James and Mr. Alex Bousquet over the weekend. Both gentlemen were well known in their own right, when it came to delivering news and information to the people of Saint Lucia and our heart goes out to all who loved them.Mr. James was a legend whose career in the media spanned decades and is known for the phrase, “this is Saint Lucia, where we are happy,” when he worked as Sir John Compton’s public relations officer. We also know Mr. James for his work at RCI and as editor of the Voice newspaper and of course for the booklet he penned surrounding the political activities of 1979. Mr. James has for years lived in Canada but kept in touch with news from Saint Lucia and for some time penned a regular commentary for the Voice. His memory lives on in his body of work. Condolences to his family and friends.Alex Bousquet was a great reporter, whom I had the pleasure of speaking with on many occasions. He was always polite and receptive even as he threw some strong questions my way. He had an infectious sense of humour which we all grew to love as he often brought us the lighter side of a lot of issues. “Mr. Street Vibes” very often had us in stitches and his interviews frequently went viral. My condolences to all his family and friends as well as the Management and all the team members at DBS Television. This is a great loss.May they Rest in Peace🙏
