On Monday, August 22, 2022, Twenty-five Royal Saint Lucia Police Force personnel from the Special Services Unit, the Police Marine Unit, the Drug Unit, the Special Patrol Group and the Police Force Academy were invited to the opening ceremony of the Small Unit Patrol Tactics Subject Matter (Expert) Exchange (SMEE).

This particular engagement, which is the first of 2022, is projected to end on Friday 26th of August 2022 and is being hosted by the Police Force Academy and the Special Services Unit. It is facilitated by military personnel from the Florida Army National Guard (FLANG) and US Virgin Island National Guard (VING) through the Military Liaison Office (MLO) of the US Embassy and the Florida State Partnership Program (SPP).

This is the 3rd locally hosted Expert Exchange under the SPP since 2021.

The SMEE will focus on tactical level planning, room clearing techniques, vehicle checkpoint organization, vehicle takedown, arrest techniques, active shooter scenarios, and other related areas.

The review of, and updating of techniques, tactics and procedures (TTPs) for tactical level personnel is one of the measures that the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force is implementing in response to the gang and gun crime on the Island.
