Zonal Boys Club Under 17 competition culminated with two  exciting matches

The St. Lucia Football Association Inc. Zonal Boys Club Under 17 competition culminated with two  exciting matches at the Technical Center in Grande Riviere Dennery.

In a final preliminary match in the SLFA Inc. Zonal Football Under 17 competition, interspersed by pulsating exchanges, New Generations averted the numerous challenges to emerge decisive winners in an epic encounter.

Throughout the exhilarating encounter the pendulum swung precariously back and forth with both teams guilty of squandering numerous scoring opportunities.

But when the dye was cast it was New Generations who emerged triumphant with a hard fought 2 – 1 victory over their worthy opponents Black Panthers.

This they did with a double strike from Ace player Baggio Edward first with a penalty in the 42nd min and the clincher in the 81st min.

Previously Black Panthers had equalised with an own goal from Brenton  Fanis in the 48th min.

In the other game played Northern United secured the Third Place Trophy with a convincing over Valley Soccer.

They got their goals from Nathaniel Leo in the 69th and 80th min and Kenrick Antoine in the 4th min.

Mervin St. Romaine scored a penalty for Valley Soccer in the 35th min.

Meanwhile, the SLFA Inc. President’s Cup is scheduled to kick off on Tuesday 18th April, with 12 teams participating in two groups namely

Aux Lyon United

Big Players

CT Foundation

Garrand FC and

Nyabinghi

Group B

Black Eagles

DCYO

Desruisseaux United

Faith United

Shambala Shiloh and

Uprising

The competition will be played in a single round robin format with he top two teams advancing to the semi finals and finals. Matches will be played on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Dennery and Desruisseaux Playing Fields respectively.

Garrand vs. Nyabinghi – Dennery Playing Field – 6.00 pm

Big Players vs. CT Foundation – 8.00 pm

Faith United vs. Shambala Shiloh – Desruisseaux Playing Field – 6.00 pm

Uprising vs. Black Eagles – 8.00 pm

In other related news the St. Lucia Under 20 Women team arrived safely in Nicaragua where they will be participating in the Concacaf Under 20 Women qualifiers.

The team plays its first game today against Costa Rica at 7.00 pm.

 Elsewhere, the curtains descended on the La Clery Football League Boys Under 15 competition on Saturday 15th April with two matches being played.

At the La Clery Playing Field guest team Flames FC and Radics played to an exciting goalless draw, despite both being presented with numerous scoring opportunities. However, poor finishing cost them dearly.

Over at the Agard Playing Field CT Foundation of Roseau ended their campaign emphatically defeating Agardianz 5 – 0. They got their goals from Leroy Marius with a brace and the others from Joe Evans, Andrew St. Romain and Cornelius Edmund.

At the Prize Giving Ceremony, Radics emerged champions of the in House competition, followed by Agardianz and La All Stars.

The overall competition was won by CT Foundation, followed by Flames FC and Radics.

All winners were presented with their trophies and medals courtesy of the La Clery Football League and the St. Lucia Football Association Inc.

In closing President of the League Bruno Leonce, congratulated and thank the teams for making the tournament a success while heaping praise on the community support especially from Agard.
