THE MINISTRY OF TOURISM ANNOUNCES THE FINALISTS IN ITS QUEST FOR THE JUNIOR MINISTER FOR TOURISM 2023/24

The Ministry of Tourism, Investment, Creative Industries, Culture and Information launched the 2023 National Tourism Public Speaking Competition in February 2023, which was expected to encourage creativity and innovation among students. This activity was targeted at third and fourth form Secondary School Students between the ages of 14 and 17 years.

A total of 20 submissions were received island-wide from students who participated in the preliminary round of the competition, wherein, students were expected to create content in a ninety-second Tik-Tok video on one of the following topics: “Design a tour package for a celebrity of your choice, highlighting the best experiences to enjoy in Saint Lucia” or “Organize an itinerary of MUST Dos in Saint Lucia’

In the second round of the competition, the students are expected to participate in the public speaking competition, from which the winner will be crowned Junior Minister for Tourism 2023/2024.

The Ministry of Tourism, Investment, Creative Industries, Culture and Information is therefore pleased to announce and congratulate the following schools and students which qualified for the final round of the competition:

1st – Ms. Anna Wilson – Corinth Secondary School;

2nd – Ms. Kelsha Bennett – Corinth Secondary School;

3rd – Ms. Keyshawn Alphonse – Soufriere Comprehensive Secondary School;

4th – Ms Kaali Donaie – St. Joseph’s Convent Secondary School;

5th – Mr. Keian Joseph – Choiseul Secondary School; 6th – Ms. Merisa Samuel – Choiseul Secondary School; 7th – Ms. Terina Bretney – Micoud Secondary School;

8th – Ms. Katylnne Charles – Beanefield Comprehensive Secondary School;

9th – Ms. Rei Poyotte – Choiseul Secondary School; and

10th – Ms. Nelma Joseph – Vieux Fort Comprehensive Secondary School

The final round of the competition is scheduled for Tuesday, July 4, 2023, at the Financial Administrative Centre from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm.

The Ministry of Tourism wishes to thank all students and schools for their submissions and looks forward to working with each school in its quest for the next Junior Minister for Tourism.
