By WASCO

The Water and Sewerage Company Inc. WASCO wishes to advise the public that due to the current weather system expected to affect St.Lucia and the Lesser Antilles on Thursday, June 22nd, 2023, the following measures are in place :

The WASCO disaster management plan is activated and preparations are in order to reduce downtime normally experienced after heavy rainfall and disasters.

WASCO has identified the more vulnerable systems located in the south of the island and will action placing these systems offline before the storm makes landfall.

All systems in the north of the island, which are supplied by the JCD, the Theobalds Treatment plant and the Hill 20 system, will remain online unless there is a power failure during the storm which will automatically put the pumps offline.

Our control room team will be expanded to accommodate the possible influx of incoming calls into the command center.
Information will be communicated to the public through the available mediums. WASCO officials will provide updates on the status of our post-disaster assessment report of any major repairs in a timely manner.

WASCO is working to ensure that all areas experiencing interruptions are supplied ahead of the storm.

WASCO wishes to remind and encourage our valued customers to activate and initiate all water conservation measures to ensure they have an adequate supply of clean potable water ahead of the storm.
