Commemoration of the Sixteenth (16th) Anniversary of the Passing of father of the Nation and founding leader of the UWP
Today September 7th , 2023, the United Workers Party wish to join the nation in quiet reflection as we mark the 16 th anniversary of the passing of the father of our nation and visionary, founding leader of the UWP, the late Sir John GM Compton.
Although he has gone to the great beyond, his legacy endures, etched into the very fabric of our nation’s history. He will never be forgotten and is ever present in our thoughts and our hearts. His unparalleled contribution to the socio-economic development of our island, his wise counsel, his enduring love of our country, St. Lucia, will forever inspire and guide us as we go forward and confront the challenges of today and tomorrow. May we continue to reflect the values, goals and aspirations envisaged by him.
His life of service to the people of Saint Lucia remains an example for us all, burning bright like the flame of that proverbial candle which he carried to light our world. May his memory long be with us, may his legacy live on in our hearts and actions.
May he continue to rest in the Lord’s perfect peace.
