TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK
At 1100 AM AST (1500 UTC), the eye of Hurricane Beryl was located
near latitude 12.4 North, longitude 61.3 west or about 112 miles 181 km south of St Lucia. Beryl is moving toward the west-northwest near 20 mph (31 km/h). The eyewall of Beryl is moving across the southern Windward Islands. Maximum sustained winds are near 140 mph (220 km/h) with higher gusts. This is an extremely dangerous and life-threatening situation. Winds will rapidly increase within the eyewall of Beryl.
Showers and thunderstorms continue in association with an area of low pressure located about 1000 miles 1600 km east-southeast of the Windward Islands. Environmental conditions appear marginally conducive for additional development of this system, and a tropical depression could form by the middle part of this week while it moves generally westward at 15 to 20 mph across the central and western tropical Atlantic.
Interests in the Windward and southern Leeward Islands are strongly advised to closely monitor the progress of these systems and take all the necessary precautions.
