Due to the high circulation of firearms in Martinique, the judicial authorities welcome the outcome of a recent investigation.

The gendarmes of the companion of Trinidad with the help of the antenna of the GIGN , proceeded Thursday, April 21, 2022, to the arrest of a 33-year-old man in the house of his parents in Robert.

On the spot, they discovered in his room, a workshop where he had transformed (for ten years), automatic pistols into category B weapons (dangerous and subject to authorization).

The investigation reveals that the suspect was supplied (at a lower price) by internet or in specialized stores and then resold these transformed weapons at much higher prices.

30 category B weapons seized and more than a hundred ammunition ", announces the gendarmerie on its Facebook page.

Some of his weapons ended up in the criminal world, especially note the investigators. Taking these facts into account,  the Fort-de-France public prosecutor's office is opening a judicial investigation in order to trace the trail and confuse other unscrupulous buyers.

The suspect, arrested, placed in police custody and then indicted, is remanded in custody at the Ducos penitentiary center.
