Announcement of Youth Climate Justice Parliamentarians

The Caribbean Climate Justice Project, in collaboration with the Caribbean Regional Youth Council, is pleased to announce the names of the participants in the inaugural Virtual Caribbean Youth Parliament on Climate Justice, which will be held on 23 September 2021.
A total of 167 applications were received from youth across the Caribbean to participate in the parliament, which is meant to draw attention to the impact of climate change from the perspectives of our youth.
The parliamentarians, who were chosen after a very competitive selection process, are:
1. Reon Porter - a national of The Cayman Islands, who will serve as Speaker of the Parliament
2. Danielle Edwards - a national of the Commonwealth of Dominica, who will be the Leader of Parliamentary Business
3. Pierre Cooke Jr - a national of Guyana, who permanently resides in Barbados, who will speak on the impact on health
4. Gabrielle Gay - a national of Barbados, who will speak on the role of education
5. Sade Gustave - a national of Saint Lucia, who will speak on the role of youth
6. Kaiesha Joseph - a national of Antigua and Barbuda, who will speak on the impact on human rights
7. Woody Juste - a national of Haiti, who will speak on the impact on biodiversity
8. Trina Palacio - a national of Belize, who will speak on the impact on vulnerable populations
9. Unique Plummer - a national of Jamaica, who will speak on the importance of empowering communities
10. Riaz Rupnarain - a national of Guyana, who will speak on the Caribbean’s foreign policy response
11. Boykin G Smith - a national of the Bahamas, who will speak on the impact on the main economic sectors of agriculture and tourism
12. Khadija Smith - a national of Trinidad and Tobago, who will speak on the impact on water security
13. Gabrielle St. Hilaire - a national of the Commonwealth of Dominica, who will speak on the impact on political stability
14. Shamar Wedderburn - a national of Jamaica, who will speak on the impact on livelihoods
15. Christianne Zakour - a national of Trinidad and Tobago, who will speak on the impact on sustainable development
