Bank of Saint Lucia continues to lend critical support to our sister island St. Vincent in the wake of the devastating impacts of the La Soufriere volcanic eruptions.
The Bank mobilized significant financial contributions to the OECS Stronger Together programme, and the St Vincent and the Grenadines National Insurance Services support of the mobilization of relief efforts on the ground.
“Stronger Together” is global initiative led by the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) in collaboration with the Global Coalition for St. Vincent.
The aim of this initiative is to support relief efforts for the many communities negatively impacted by the volcanic activity and to support economic recovery efforts.
A sizeable monetary contribution was donated to the funding appeal as the Bank was eager to lend assistance to the people of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
The Bank also mobilized critical funding in support of the La Soufriere Disaster Fund , established by the St. Vincent and the Grenadines National Insurance Services.
Hundreds of cases of much needed water were also donated by the Bank in support of efforts to ensure that clean drinking water is readily available.
Mr. Lyndon Arnold, Deputy Managing Director Operations stated that “Bank of Saint Lucia is committed to ensuring that the people of St. Vincent receive assistance as relief and recovery efforts from the devastation caused by the volcanic eruptions continue. Natural disasters such as this, can affect any of our vulnerable island nations, including Saint Lucia at any time, and we must therefore continue to be our brother’s and sisters’ keeper in this regard. We are truly inspired by the strength and resilience of the people of St. Vincent & the Grenadines, and pledge to continue our support as a caring institution.”
Bank of Saint Lucia remains committed to providing relief and support to our local communities and island neighbours, particularly in times of need.
A clarion call is being made to other organisations and individuals who wish to donate to the St. Vincent and the Grenadines relief efforts, to do so via NEMO St Lucia.
Monetary donations can be made at various banks across the island, including the NEMO Donations Bank of Saint Lucia account #901300136.
