CARDTP advances plans for national government datacenter and Governmental CIRT

By Caribbean Digital Transformation Project

The Caribbean Digital Transformation Project (CARDTP) is advancing two priority initiatives aimed at strengthening Saint Lucia’s digital infrastructure and cybersecurity framework:

  • the supply and installation of a national government datacenter
  • the establishment of a governmental cyber incident response team (CIRT)

To date, a site has been selected for the National Government Datacenter. The CARDTP, through the Division of Public Sector Modernization (within the Department of the Public Service) is collaborating with the Department of Physical Development, led by Chief Architect Barry Georges, to finalize the design plans for this critical facility.

On February 11, a stakeholder consultation was held to further discussions and planning for these two initiatives. Attendees included CARDTP Project Implementation Unit (PIU) led by Project Manager, Mrs. Sheralin Monrose-Gustave; Chief Architect, Department of Physical Development, Mr. Barry Georges; Senior ICT Personnel from the Department of Public Service, led by Marlon Narcisse, Director of Public Sector Modernization; General Manager of GITS (Government Information Technology Services); ICT Project Manager; Chief ICT Officer; Telecommunications Consultant.

The National Government Datacenter is envisioned as a state-of-the-art facility that will enhance government operations, data security, and digital service delivery. Meanwhile, the Governmental CIRT will serve as a centralized cybersecurity unit, ensuring proactive monitoring, response, and mitigation of cyber threats across government agencies.

Following this consultation, efforts will continue towards finalizing the datacenter design and developing the implementation framework for the CIRT. These activities align with the CARDTP’s broader mission to strengthen digital transformation, cybersecurity, and e-Government services in Saint Lucia.

The Government of Saint Lucia remains committed to these transformational initiatives, which will play a pivotal role in modernizing public services, securing national digital assets, and enhancing resilience against cyber threats.
