Caribbean Union of Teachers Elect An Executive

The Caribbean Union of Teachers (CUT) held its 41st Biennial Conference at the
Jamaica Pegasus Hotel in Jamaica from July 17 – 21, 2023. The conference was held
under the theme: Getting it Right: Revolutionizing Education, Prioritizing Teachers
and was hosted by the Jamaica Teachers’ Association.
This conference saw the gathering of Teacher Trade Unions across the region to
discuss pertinent matters related to teacher trade unionism and education.
At this meeting a new executive was elected to serve the Biennium 2023-2025.
The newly elected officers are:
President: Garth Anderson (Jamaica)
1st Vice President: Antonia Tekah-De Freitas (Trinidad)
2nd Vice President: Elena Smith (Belize)
3rd Vice President: Stuart Johnson (St. Maarten)
General Secretary: Vern Charles (St. Lucia)
Trustee: Stephen Mc Phee (Bahamas)
Trustee: Rudy Lovell (Barbados)
The Caribbean Union of Teachers expresses its gratitude to the outgoing officers
who served the organization with distinction: Don Howell (St. Lucia), Shannon
James (Bermuda), Mark Lyte (Guyana) and Richmark Cave (Barbados).
