Castries Lions Commence Lionistic Year 2023-2024, in Service to Community

The Castries Lions Club commenced this Lionistic Year giving back to our community. The club celebrated mass at the Minor Basilica of the Immaculate Conception and presented the parish administrator with four (4) grocery hampers
towards the church hamper distribution program. The Service to community continued with the club presenting educational bursaries to four needy students in the Castries basin. The bursaries were part of the club’s Roger Eudoxie Scholarship Fund. The students will be attending the Sir Arthur Lewis Community College, the Castries Comprehensive Secondary School, The Eucharist Lewis SDA Primary School and the Corinth Senior Secondary School.

In addition to community service, the club joined with the other Lions and Leos of Zone 3B (Saint Lucia) and participated in the District Governor First Advisory Zone Meeting held on Saturday September 09, 2023. Our very own, Lion Christopher Emmanuel, PMJF, serves as Zone Chairperson and provides leadership to the clubs. The Zone meeting received updates from clubs on their plans for the Lionistic Year 2023-2024.

For the Castries Lions, some of our plans include; continued education and advocacy in the areas of Childhood cancer; Breast Cancer and Diabetes through various partnerships; Relieving Hunger through our monthly feeding at three locations – Mother Theresa Home for the Elderly, St Lucy’s home and the City Circuit. In observance of September as Hunger Awareness month the club hopes to embark on a Back-to-school Breakfast programme at two of the city schools where the club will prepare and serve breakfast to the students.

We look forward to continuing serving our community under our District Governor’s Theme for this Lionistic Year “I am Because We are”.
