By Saint Lucian Diaspora
Samantha Denise Primus, 46, a developmentally disabled, deaf, non- verbal individual, went missing on Friday, December 23, 2022, and has not yet been found. Ms. Primus, who may also need medical attention, was last seen at approximately 3:30 AM on Savoy Avenue in Elmont, Long Island.
Ms. Primus’ family has organized a large-scale search party to commence from 11:00 AM, on Sunday, January 15, 2023. The search will encompass the boroughs of Queens, Manhattan, the Bronx and Brooklyn, as so the family is making a special appeal to the Saint Lucian community to enlist in large numbers as volunteers in the search for Samantha Denise Primus. Saint Lucians and other persons interested in offering their time are asked to assemble at the corner of Eastern Parkway and Utica Avenue in Brooklyn, from 11 AM on Sunday, in order to be placed in one of the four search crews.
At the time of her disappearance, Ms. Primus was spending the Christmas holidays with her sister Prisca Primus in Elmont, Long Island, New York. She was wearing a pink hoodie, blue jeans, black sneakers, and a pink knit hat. She is 5’ 3” tall and approximately 130 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.
On Thursday, Dec. 29, Ms. Primus’ family received notice from the Nassau County Police Department that Samantha had been found on 190th Street and Hillside Avenue in Queens on December 23 at around 8:00 P.M., three and a half miles away from her sister’s home. The report states that a team of New York Fire Department medics brought Ms. Primus to the Queens Hospital Medical Center, from which she was discharged only a few hours later. Ms. Primus was reportedly also spotted at a deli on Nostrand Avenue in the Bedford Stuyvesant area of Brooklyn.
The family remains optimistic that law enforcement will assist them in obtaining camera footage from both Queens Hospital Medical Center and the Nostrand Avenue store for identification purposes. Since her disappearance, Ms. Primus’ family has received a great deal of support from friends and neighbors, who have disseminated flyers and conducted extensive searches in Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, and the Bronx.
The Consulate General extends sincere gratitude for the assistance the community has provided thus far in the search for Samantha Denise Primus and looks forward to even greater support on Sunday. The family can be contacted at either 917.750.6010 or 347.366.2252.
