Covid-19: the epidemic situation is improving in Martinique, 4,890 new cases recorded in one week

The epidemic situation is improving on Martinique territory despite persistent hospital tension. The circulation of SARS-Cov-2 still remains active and at a high level despite the decrease in all virological indicators.

According to figures from the ARS, of the  32,964 tests  carried out between February 14 and 20, 2022,  4,890  were found to be  positive  (compared to  7,213  the previous week).

The Omicron variant is predominant. It represents more than 99.7% of positive samples. 

Total number of cases since the start of the epidemic in Martinique in March 2020: 112,901

Positivity rate: 15%  ( proportion of positive tests on all analyses).

Incidence rate: 1,363 (number of cases over 7 days per 100,000 inhabitants). 

261 covid patients are on oxygen at home.

74 patients are being hospitalized  , including  16  in critical care . 

The activity of Covid-19 is decreasing in pediatric emergencies.

876 deaths  have been reported by the CHUM (Centre Hospitalier Universitaire de Martinique) since the start of the epidemic, compared to 861 last week, or 15 more.
