ROSEAU, Dominica — Thousands of listeners have tuned in weekly to follow the Dominican TDN radio station drama, Redemption Road. The original production debuted in October 2018 as part of online TDN Radio’s mandate to bring back the art of radio storytelling and, according to station management, has attracted a steadily growing audience.

Redemption Road tells the story of Pastor Felix Perryman who lives in a fictional village on the island of Dominica. Pastor Felix has a loving family, a nice home, a loyal congregation and the respect of his social peers. However one day his carefully constructed façade begins to crumble when he learns of an unexpected pregnancy.

Season One of the eight-episode series focuses a spotlight on Pastor Felix’s fall from grace, and his subsequent journey to faith; his redemption through God’s grace.

TDN Radio manager, and co-writer for the drama series, Sam George, said the show has been more popular than expected, “We knew that a good portion of our listeners across the Caribbean, the U.S and U.K enjoyed listening to radio plays when they were children. However with the advent of social media, radio and radio productions seemed to have lost a place in our entertainment options. So although we knew a radio play would have nostalgic appeal, we were pleasantly surprised by the show’s popularity across the board.”

George added that Season 2 of Redemption Road is already planned for the Fall 2019. TDN Radio will also air a Christmas special to be aired in December as a spin-off of the main series. As the show continues, more characters from various Caribbean islands and cultures will be introduced.

(Redemption Road is aired on www.tdnradio.net and sister station, www.life101radio.neton Sundays at 7:30 pm with repeats on Wednesdays at 9:00 pm.)
