Nomination Day was held on Friday, July 16. According to the Saint Lucia Electoral Department, the event went smoothly and according to plan.
Special Assistant to the Chief Elections Officer for the 2021 General Election, Herman St. Helen, explained the next steps.
“What happens now is that they return the forms which list the candidates nominated in each electoral district. When we receive this, we send it across to the national printery for the commencement of the printing of ballot papers. The names will be placed on the ballot paper along with a photo ID,” he said.
As Saint Lucia readies for the 2021 General Election, planning and preparations for the poll must be meticulous. To this end, the Electoral Department has also been training staff to reacquaint them with the information and tools necessary for the upcoming election.
