Electoral Department conducts voters list verification exercise

The Electoral Department will be conducting a comprehensive Verification Exercise of the "Register of Electors" voters list commencing March 1, and ending on March 31.
This critical initiative aims to ensure the accuracy and credibility of the electoral register by verifying approximately 20,000 registered electors. The exercise underscores the Department’s commitment to upholding democratic principles, fostering public trust and preparing for future elections with a clean, reliable voters Llist.
The voters list is the cornerstone of free and fair elections hence, the purposes of the verification exercise:
- To maintain its integrity;
- Periodic reviews are essential;
- Remove ineligible or duplicate entries (e.g., deceased persons, relocated individuals, or duplicate registrations);
- Confirm active voters to ensure all registered electors reside within their designated constituencies;
- Strengthen public confidence by demonstrating transparency in the electoral process.
In light of the abovementioned, this project is being conducted simultaneously island wide. Our staff will be identified by the wearing of a blue, black, white, and silver reflector vests with the words “Saint Lucia Electoral Department” printed on them and will also have identification badges.
