Energy Awareness Month to Be Celebrated in Saint Lucia

November will mark the 20th anniversary of Energy Awareness Month in Saint Lucia, under the theme "Get Involved! Renewable, Resilient and Affordable Clean Energy for the Future."
The month-long event aims to:
- Raise awareness about the importance of energy conservation, renewable energy, and sustainable practices among citizens, businesses, and educational institutions.
- Promote the adoption of energy-efficient technologies and practices to save money and reduce carbon emissions.
- Foster collaboration between the private sector, government agencies, and energy experts to create an enabling environment for sustainable energy initiatives.
- Empower consumers with the knowledge and tools to make informed decisions about energy consumption and adopt energy-efficient products and services.
The month's activities will begin with the launch and Private Sector Energy Fair at Constitution Park and William Peter Boulevard from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 1, 2023. Other activities include:
- Energy Efficiency Workshop at the Soufriere Fisheries Complex on November 2
- Chiffonnen Day/No Iron Day on November 15, when Saint Lucians are encouraged to put down their irons and wear clothing that does not require ironing to promote energy conservation and efficiency.
- School tours by the Project Implementation Unit of the Renewable Energy Sector Development Project to sensitize students about the geothermal exploratory drilling process.
- Other activities will be organized by key stakeholders such as the Department of Sustainable Development, the National Utilities Regulatory Commission, and the OECS Commission.
The Department of Infrastructure, Ports, and Transport encourages all Saint Lucians to attend the Private Sector Fair and participate in the various activities planned for the month
