FIREARM AND AMMUNITION CONFISCATION.

On Friday November 24, 2023, about 9:00pm during a Sweep, Stop and Search Operation in Dennery, Officers of the Dennery Police Station and Special Service Unit intercepted a grey Suzuki Baleno, which was occupied by two male individuals. A search conducted on the vehicle revealed:
• one (1) Glock 19 pistol with a magazine containing seven (7) live rounds of 9 mm ammunition.
• A second magazine containing fifteen (15) live rounds of 9 mm ammunition,
• a red and black box containing fifty rounds (50) live rounds of 9 mm ammunition,
• seven (7) live rounds of 9 mm ammunition and eleven (11) live rounds of .40 calibre ammunition was found wrapped in clear polythene bag.
All these were found in a camouflage bag on the back seat of the vehicle. Neither of the occupants produced a valid Firearm licence.
A further search of the vehicle also revealed in the trunk, six (6) polythene bags containing green plant material which is suspected to be Cannabis and a quantity of a substance suspected to be Crack Cocaine. The occupants of the vehicle were subsequently arrested for the offences of Unlawful Possession of Firearm and Ammunition without a valid licence and Unlawful Possession of Controlled Drugs.
The occupants have been identified as 26-year-old Liam Velinor of Denniere Rivere, Dennery and 29-year-old Carlton King of Aux Lyon, Dennery.
On Saturday November 25, 2023, both individuals were charged for the Offences of Unlawful Possession of Firearm and Ammunition, Unlawful Possession of Controlled Drugs and Unlawful Possession of Controlled Drugs with Intent to Supply.
They are scheduled to be taken to the Magistrate’s Court for the purpose of bail hearing.
