Employees from various government ministries attended a one-day training workshop at the National ICT Centre in Castries on Friday, July 26. The workshop underscored the benefits of artificial intelligence (AI).

Twenty participants represented their respective government ministries, while one participant represented the private sector.

The training workshop provided participants with a better understanding of artificial intelligence and its potential to revolutionize operations within Government agencies. During the intensive eight- hour session, a wide range of topics were covered, including the impact of AI on various industries, including healthcare, tourism, education, and agriculture.

Key learning objectives of the training workshop included:

  1. Understanding AI tools and their applications in Government operations.
  2. Developing advocacy and implementation skills for AI adoption.
  3. Acquiring basic skills in using AI tools to enhance efficiency and workplace performance.
  4. Fostering critical thinking on the ethical and societal implications of AI adoption.

The training workshop commenced with an overview of AI, its scope and real-world applications, followed by discussions on ethical considerations in AI implementation. Participants then engaged in hands-on activities with popular AI productivity tools. The afternoon sessions focused on the future of AI in government, integrating AI into business processes, and the necessary skills and competencies for an AI-powered workforce.
