Grand Finale for Diabetes Awareness Month: 'All Things Diabetes Health Fair' Highlights Collaboration and Empowers St. Lucians to 'Know Your Risk, Know Your Response'

A month of activities in observance of Diabetes Awareness Month culminated at the Constitution Park on November 28, 2023 with a "All Things Diabetes Health Fair". The Grand Health Fair began with an opening ceremony with featured speakers such as the Minister of Health, President of the St.Lucia Diabetes and Hypertension Association, representative for the Ambassador for Taiwan, with closing remarks by the Senior Medical Officer for Non Communicable Diseases. Entertainment from the likes of Groovy Monarch Arthur Allain, well known saxophonist Barbara Cadet and violinist Yannick James.
The days proceedings also included information booths, demonstrations, screenings, games, giveaways and prizes. Patrons were encouraged to get regular testing and keep updated on their risk factors as it pertains to the prevention and control of diabetes.
The "All Things Diabetes Health Fair", themed "Know Your Risk, Know Your Response" was a collaboration between the St .Lucia Diabetes and Hypertension Association, Ministry of Health, Wellness and Elderly Affairs - Saint Lucia and the TaiwanICDF財團法人國際合作發展基金會 through the Taiwan Technical Capacity Building Project for the prevention and Control of Metabolic Non Communicable Diseases.
