Gros Islet Football League Launches 2024 Guardsman Under-15 Tournament with Plans for National Expansion

The Gros Islet Football League (GIFL) recently launched the Guardsman Under-15 Football Tournament at the SLFA Conference Room, scheduled to start on Saturday, November 2, 2024.
Attendees included parents, coaches, and players from participating clubs, as well as representatives from Golden Sports 758, GIFL, SLFA, and Guardsman Saint Lucia Ltd.
Shayne Paul discussed the next steps for Guardsman's expansion from a Northern Zone competition to a nationwide event. This progress includes the addition of Soufriere's Black Panthers and City Foundation from Roseau Valley. He also paid tribute to the late Cassius Glassgow, known as Coach Cassy Boom, who was influential in the annual Guardsman Tournament.
SLFA President Lyndon Cooper highlighted the important role of the Guardsman Under-15 tournament in developing national youth talent. He pledged full support from the Saint Lucia Football Association, including a threefold increase in financial backing for future sponsors.
Guardsman representative Ghislaine Codel Charles expressed her enthusiasm for the tournament, encouraging players to perform well and maintain discipline. She confirmed Guardsman Saint Lucia Limited's support for this year's event and anticipated a well-organized tournament.
