On Friday 2nd April 2021, the Gros Islet North Youth and Sports Council
(GINYSC) orchestrated a tablet donation within the community of Gros
Islet in commemoration of Saint Lucia's National Youth Month and in an effort to further drive the Council's commitment to foster youth
development and empowerment in the community.
Two students of low-income families were selected as the beneficiaries of this donation.
The devices were purchased by the Council through self-generated funding.
The GINYSC is aware of the importance of access to devices for online learning and the financial crunch the COVID-19 pandemic has placed on many families.
In the words of the President Ms. Raejean Montoute "This is our way of giving back to the community, we are a Youth and Sports Council, that believes in youth
empowerment, and although we can only donate two devices today. This will go a long way in terms of the educational development of the students."
The Council looks forward to hosting more initiatives of this nature in the near future.
