Hilaire says organizers should not be able to bring down artists who encourage violence in their music

Hilaire told reports that organizers should not be able to bring down artists who encourage violence in their music.

The minister says “We need to ask some serious questions. As far as I knew, the police took a position that they were not approving the show because the individual in question is someone who has been involved in singing, and promoting music that glorifies crime and gun violence. And I know because I was in discussion with the police force."

The minister says to his knowledge, approval was not given for the event due to requirements not being properly met by the organizers. one of the main reasons for the denied approval was the message that the artist was promoting in his music and is uncertain as to how approval was given so close to the event date.

He continues to say that the Prime Minister Philip J Pierre plans to investigate the matter further and noted that there will be consequences regarding future events on island for the organizers if it turns out the police were misinformed.

He said that the weapon was a dangerous addition to the event.
