By  RSLPF

On Saturday, October 12, 2024, the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force (RSLPF)
conducted an operation within the Northern and Central Divisions. The operation involved police officers attached to the Special Operations Team. These ongoing operations are intended to dismantle criminal networks, thus addressing public safety issues on the island.

During the operation, officers had cause to stop and conduct searches of thirty-two (32) vehicles. Four (4) of the said vehicles were impounded for various traffic violations. Additionally, six (6) houses and one (1) business, were searched, resulting in the apprehension of five (5) individuals for prohibited weapons. A white Suzuki SX4 with five occupants was engaged by the team in Dennery, which resulted in the non-fatal wounding (shooting) of a male suspect. A Glock 34 equipped with a selector switch (a device which allows the firearm to fire in rapid succession) was recovered during the encounter. Following the incident, the male suspect fled from the scene but was later arrested by officers, when he sought care at a medical facility. Five individuals are in police custody, pending the outcome of a
comprehensive investigation. An update will be provided in due course.
