Julien Alfred breaking the record of 7.00 seconds set in 1994

Julien Alfred has continued her show of force this indoor season on Sunday when she broke the record of 7.00 seconds set in 1994 to win the 60m dash at the 2024 Millrose Games in New York.

The 22 year old St Lucian star sped to a time of 6.99 seconds at the 60m dash. She established her position as being among the best of the world’s elite women sprinters.

Prime Minister Pierre congratulates her on his Facebook page. The PM said, "As we countdown to Independence 45, Julien Alfred continues to inspire us as Saint Lucians. Join me in congratulating Ms. Alfred on her latest win, 6.99 seconds in the 60M at Milrose Games, breaking the record of 7.00 seconds set in 1994."

The oppostion leader Allen Chastanet also commented and said, "Congratulations to @julien.alfred on her latest win at in the 60M at the Millrose Games with a time of 6.99 seconds. The first sub 7 time for the season."
