La Retraite Bridge completed

The Minister for Infrastructure, Ports, Energy and Labour, Hon. Stephenson King announced last week the completion of the La Retriate Bridge Reconstruction Project.

The new, climate-resilient bridge accommodates two lane traffic and is fitted with pedestrian sidewalks. The minister stated that the new bridge is “the latest in Saint Lucia's fast-growing stock of world class infrastructure assets.”

Meanwhile, works to improve vital back roads continue.

“The Morne du Don to Balata Road Reconstruction Project along with other improvements to the back roads are big ticket achievements for our government. They are important alternatives to the busy city commute and traffic congestion,” Minister King stated.

Additional road works will impact 16 electoral districts across Saint Lucia. The National Roads Rehabilitation Project will deliver better, safer roads and provides farmers improved access to their farms and new opportunities for social and economic development. The project is being financed through the $1.50 fuel tax implemented by government, specifically for road maintenance.
