Mayors of Vieux Fort and Castries, Her Worship Orricia Denbow-Bullen and His Worship Peterson D. Francis last week visited the construction sites of both the St. Jude Hospital and the Hewanorra Airport Redevelopment Project.

The objective, according to the Mayors, was to observe the progress and attain an appreciation and understanding of the projects.

Speaking to construction of both the airport and the hospital, Her Worship Mrs. Orricia Denbow-Bullen, Mayor of Vieux Fort stated that both facilities will provide a world-class service in the South.

“Healthcare will be first class as well as our airport services. My prediction is that there will be an influx of people coming into Saint Lucia to conduct medical procedures and medical tourism, as a result, will be boosted.”

Mayor of Castries, His Worship Peterson D. Francis while sharing similar sentiments, said Saint Lucians should be very proud and will have something to talk about when construction is finished at both sites.

“It is one thing to see and another to do a walkthrough where you get to understand and appreciate the level of work that is done, the number of persons employed and earning a living, the designs, the concept, the colors, the structure and ideology behind developing world class projects. These two major projects are by far the best the South has ever seen. I would say that it is certainly worth the wait as both the St. Jude Hospital and the Hewanorra Airport Redevelopment Project will propel Vieux Fort into the future,” said Mayor Francis.
