PRESS RELREASE - The members of United Youth, profoundly commend the Government, and the Royal Saint Lucia Turf Club, (RSLTC) for the level of youth engagement in the horse racing project thus far.

It is evident, that the government is aware of, and is working assiduously towards, continuing the incremental decrease of unemployment amongst youth in Saint Lucia, and this very initiative is evidence of such efforts. Whiles many young persons have given tacit approval to this project, the members of United Youth would like to publicly state that we stand resolute, in support of the implementation of this project as we have recognized the industry’s prodigious potential for explosive growth, which in-turn translates to the creation of hundreds of jobs in a plethora of areas for our young people.

Scores of young people have already gained employment during the construction phase, and also with the commencement of operations, at the facility. Young equestrians have been trained as grooms, which is the first of many other training opportunities to come, in a myriad of potential career opportunities being created by the development of the industry. Young people have also been given an opportunity to race their locally bred horses, which supports the continuation of an age old activity and tradition in Saint Lucia.

We would like to encourage young persons who are interested in working or building careers within the horse racing industry to seize the opportunity and make the best of it.
