MHMC elevates healthcare standards in Saint Lucia

The Millennium Heights Medical Complex (MHMC) has taken a pivotal step toward advancing healthcare standards by hosting an Accreditation Canada Workshop from February 10 to 14, 2025. This initiative reflects MHMC’s unwavering commitment to continuous improvement in patient care, safety, and service delivery.

The four-day workshop brought together healthcare professionals, administrators, and policy advisors. Through structured training and hands-on exercises, the initiative aims to enhance healthcare delivery in Saint Lucia and reinforce best practices across the sector.

MHMC Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Damian Greaves, emphasized the need for a collective effort in dispelling misinformation and improving healthcare efficiency. He urged stakeholders to embrace this movement of change, reinforcing MHMC’s mission to provide excellence in patient care. “Our business is quality. Our business is minimizing risks. Our business is teamwork and effective communication. We must dispel myths, address misinformation, and overcome communication barriers. All of this is essential as we strive to offer the best at MHMC. Let this call for quality and risk management be our guiding light in strengthening our healthcare system and ensuring outstanding outcomes for our patients and stakeholders,” explained Dr. Greaves.

Highlighting the significance of structured methodologies, Dr. Allie Hojjati, Accreditation Canada International Surveyor, encouraged participants to embrace scientific tools and innovation. “Quality improvement is a journey, where even small steps can make a difference in our daily work. We are here to provide tools and scientific approaches to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. Quality improvement does not end when this workshop concludes. It must become a continuous process. Even with limited resources, there are always opportunities for growth and refinement. Embracing this mindset can lead to remarkable outcomes.” stated, Accreditation Surveyor, Dr. Allie Hojjati.

As the workshop progresses, participants engage in practical exercises, case studies, and expert-led discussions, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to align MHMC’s policies, procedures, and service delivery frameworks with international healthcare benchmarks.
