Sixty-year-old Gerald Primus Paul has been charged for causing the death of restaurateur Renato Venturi, and for the attempted murder of his wife. Venturi’s motionless body was discovered at his Belmar Lane, Morne Fortune home on October 10.

Police reported that he was found with an apparent injury to the head. An October 12 post mortem later ruled the cause of death as subdural hematoma, secondary to multiple skull fractures due to blunt force trauma to the head. The businessman’s wife also sustained injuries in the incident.

Following his death, the RSLPF stated that the suspect was known to the victims and announced that a manhunt was launched. Providing an update on the matter today Wednesday, Superintendent George Nicholas stated: “On Tuesday, November 10 2020, police formally arrested and charged Gerald Primus Paul, a 60-year-old of Tet Chemin, Millet for causing the death of 70-year-old Renato Venturi… Previously, Gerald Paul was also charged for the attempted murder of a female which is related to the Venturi incident.”

The RSLPF says that Gerald Paul is currently remanded in custody, pending further case management.
