Minibus driver succumbed after accident in Bexon

On Monday 24 April at approximately 3:10 p.m., the Fire Service received a call informing of a mass casualty incident at Bexon. The nature of the incident was reported as a head-on collision between a minibus and a goods truck.
The responding officers found five persons on the scene who were involved in the incident. The driver of the truck sustained an injury to his hand and his passenger complained of body pain. After receiving treatment for his wound, the individuals refused further medical assistance and transportation and as a result, signed the release forms.
The driver and front passenger of the minibus were found trapped in the vehicle. They were removed with the use of extrication tools. The patients, along with the other passenger of the minibus, were transported to the OKEU hospital. There, they were handed over to medical personnel in a stable condition.
The minibus driver later succumbed to his injuries.
He is identified as Joel Nelson, a resident of Carielle.
