Ministry of Equity, Social Justice, and Empowerment Supports Launch of Salvation Army Christmas Kettle Campaign to Aid Vulnerable Communities

By Ministry of Equity

The Ministry of Equity, Social Justice, and Empowerment, in partnership with the Salvation Army, is pleased to announce the launch of the annual Christmas Kettle Campaign, held this year at the Courts Marisule showroom. This cherished campaign, led by the Salvation Army, brings Saint Lucians together to support the island’s vulnerable and marginalized communities by raising funds to provide food, shelter, and vital resources to those in need.

Representatives from the Ministry, including Sarah Leon - Deputy Director for Research, Policy and Programming, Chrisier Emmanuel – Policy and Program Officer, and Chelsea Medard – Secretary, attended the event to demonstrate the Ministry’s ongoing commitment to social empowerment and community well-being. Sarah Leon conveyed the regards of Permanent Secretary Dr. Charmaine Hippolyte Emmanuel, who was unable to attend due to other official business.

In her opening remarks, Ms. Leon expressed the Ministry’s gratitude to Captain Wousdel Louis and the Salvation Army for their enduring dedication to community support. She emphasized that the Christmas Kettle Campaign, a symbol of compassion and generosity during the holiday season, aligns deeply with the Ministry’s mandate to uplift and empower vulnerable populations across Saint Lucia.

The Ministry of Equity encourages all Saint Lucians to contribute to this year’s Christmas Kettle Campaign. Each donation, whether large or small, brings comfort and hope to families and individuals facing hardship, and together we can make a lasting impact on those in need.

In closing, Ms. Leon reiterated the Ministry’s steadfast support for the Salvation Army and similar initiatives that contribute to a more inclusive and equitable society. “Through campaigns like the Christmas Kettle, we are all given the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our fellow Saint Lucians,” remarked Leon.
