Ministry of Youth Development and Sports Prepares for Primary and Secondary Schools’ Road Races

The Ministry of Youth Development and Sports is gearing up for the Primary and Secondary Schools’ 3-kilometer and 5-kilometer road races scheduled for Wednesday, December 4, and Friday, December 6 in the south of the island.
The races start at 10:00 a.m. on both days. At the Primary School level, 156 athletes representing all eight districts will compete in two age categories: 11 to 13 and under. The 3km race will start in La Tourney/ La Ressource and end at the George Odlum Stadium/ St. Jude’s Hospital.
Three hundred and three (303) athletes representing 21 Secondary Schools competing in the under 14, 16, 18, and 20 age categories will face the starter's pistol. The 5km will start near the Cantonement playing field and end at the George Odlum Stadium/ St. Jude’s Hospital.
Immediately following each event, the first 12 athletes to finish in each age category will receive a medal (1-2 gold and silver, 3-12 bronze), while the top three finishers in each age group will receive trophies.
