Ministry of Youth Development and Sports Welcomes Seven Interns in Data Operations and Graphic Design as Part of Skills Development Initiative

By Ministry of Youth Development and Sport

The Ministry of Youth Development and Sports (MYDS) welcomed seven interns who are assisting in the areas of Data Operations and Graphic Design.
This initiative is part of the Ministry and Monroe College's effort to engage youth and enhance skills development.
The Youth Development Unit has had the services of Kerchelle Felix, Nicole St. Voris, Britanny Cox, and Pearl Henry-Popo, while Esther Rosemond, Dina Jn Pierre, and D’Anna Smith navigated through the Sports Division.
Acting Youth Development Director Lavorne Verdant-Desir said the interns benefitted from support from the Saint Lucia Human Capital Reliance Project, and they undertook studies in Data Operations and Graphic Designs.
“Their level of qualifications would have been relevant to CVQ Levels and their time with us has been spent with them integrated with the youth development team in terms of our programming and operations, and more so with support for the development of some of our key data collection tools and databases. The interns have supported us in the digitalizing of records, to the point we now have a database with over 800 entries, just one example,” Desir noted.
Additionally, in terms of graphic designing, the interns have supported the Youth Division in the design of key flyers. With the National Youth Awards coming up on November 9 2024, they are the ones designing some of the output that will be used for the occasion
