(PRESS RELEASE) – On Tuesday May 22nd, Ms. Gaysha Lionel a differently abled welfare client from the Choiseul Community was commended for self empowering herself to get off the welfare system.

Although differently abled Ms. Lionel has started a small Internet Café and was able to accomplish this by with the help of the Ministry’s welfare department and the Choiseul Credit Union.

Mrs. Michelle Edwide – Duplesis Social Transformation Officer for Choiseul emphasised the need for others to follow the example of Ms.Lionel and gave the assurance of the Ministry’s support.

“The Welfare Unit and by extension the Ministry of Equity and Social Justice, Empowerment, Youth Development, Sports Culture and Local Government seeks to empower all our clients and we encourage those who are zealous in making a dream come true. Supporting agencies and the public continued support brings great empowerment which allow us to mobilize our resources to achieve great success.”

Filled with joy Ms. Lionel said that she has a passion for education and that the business idea came about when she started assisting students and realized that this was a void in the community that had to be filled.

“Since there is no Internet Café I wanted to help young persons in the community especially with projects and SBA’s because at home some students come to me for help with their assignment and I help them. Hence I felt it was a great idea to help with the printing, laminating and binding so I can help the students in my Community. You must always believe in yourself and put GOD first because without him we are nothing. He is the one giving us the blessings. You must always believe in yourself and work hard.”

The welfare Unit of the Ministry of Equity, Social Justice, Empowerment, Youth Development, Sports, Culture and Local Government aims to prevent the exclusion of the most vulnerable population by providing Public Assistance which eventually empowers and promote selfsufficient beneficiaries.
