AraJet is the first ultra low-cost airline in the Dominican Republic. On its website, the company sells flights from Santo Domingo to the Americas and the Caribbean.
From mid-September 2022, travelers will be able to travel to Colombia, Aruba, Saint Maarten, El Salvador, Ecuador, Peru, Curaçao, Jamaica, Mexico and Guatemala. Then, in October, connections with Costa Rica will be inaugurated.
Other destinations are planned
Civil aviation of the Dominican Republic has given the green light for rotations to Canada, the United States, Trinidad and Tobago, the Netherlands, Haiti and Panama.
Ticket prices are unbeatable. According to the company's website, a Santo Domingo/Curaçao round trip would cost US$178. You can also travel to Colombia for US$200.
It is with an investment of nearly 60 million euros that AraJet starts its operations. Its CEO would have obtained funding from "Bain Capital" and "Griffin Global Asset Management", two investment companies.
Victor Pacheco will lead the company with Mike Powell, the former chief financial officer of the low-cost airline Wizz Air.
AraJet, whose HQ is based at Las Americas International Airport in Santo Domingo, has leased 5 Boeing 737-MAX8s. Twenty additional devices have already been ordered. Eventually, the fleet could number 40 aircraft.
Within 5 years, the low-cost AraJet hopes to transport more than 7 million passengers each year.
