Pedestrian Hospitalized After Being Struck by Vehicle in Castries

Tragedy struck on Sunday night as a vehicle collided with a male pedestrian on Darling Road, Castries, leading to his hospitalization. The incident, which occurred under the cover of darkness, prompted a rapid response from the Saint Lucia Fire Service (SLFS) Castries Headquarters crew.
Upon receiving the distressing call at around 10:30 p.m., the SLFS crew wasted no time in deploying both a fire truck and an ambulance to the scene.
Emergency personnel swiftly attended to the injured 58-year-old pedestrian, providing him with the care he urgently needed. He had suffered head trauma in the collision, a situation that required immediate medical attention.
Thankfully, despite the seriousness of the incident, the injuries sustained by the victim did not appear to be life-threatening. His transportation to the OKEU Hospital for further evaluation and treatment was a precautionary measure taken to ensure his well-being.
While the exact circumstances surrounding the accident are under investigation, the incident serves as a poignant reminder of the importance of road safety and the tireless efforts of emergency responders in safeguarding lives during times of crisis.
