During the emancipation celebration Phillip J Pierre was interviewed on his thoughts on the emancipation day celebration on July 31st 2022 in Dennery.

Phillip J Pierre was questioned on his thoughts about the celebration and he said that "the historical significance is so important, children should really get to know what it's all about, why we're here, how we got here and who helped us to get here. We should make emancipation day a holiday and a day of commemoration, a day where we can have activities to ensure that we remember not to go back in the negative, but remember where it came from. Ensure that any for if slavery should not be turned to us."

He thinks that we should formally apologize to the members of the Rastafarian community for the injustices that relate to marijuana. He included that " the minister of culture is working on an organization that will ensure that the commercial benefits of marijuana." He also said that next year is going to be bigger and better and he wants to make emancipation that almost like creole day.
