The Pitons Management Area Office extends best wishes to students and teachers on their return to face-to-face classroom experience as of Monday, January 11, 2020. The Office pays tribute to and celebrates students, teachers and education administrators/policymakers for their creative application, dedicated service and sacrifice during these challenging times.
The Office is keen on engaging with the education sector in facilitating information dissemination and advancing the ideals of the PMA as a World Heritage Site. Over the past eight weeks, the Office has held meetings with Early Childhood Educators and the District Education Officers for Regions 7 and 8 (Choiseul and Soufriere) respectively.
On Thursday, January 7, 2021, with the assistance the District Education Officers concerned, a virtual meeting was held with all Principals of the aforementioned regions to discuss the PMA and explore avenues for collaboration. As a follow-up action, information packages were distributed to all schools within these two regions.
Opportunities for participation in the upcoming “Restoring the Pride” campaign during the month of February and generally were suggested through related correspondence. The Office recently wrote to the Ministry of Education to advance the idea of inclusion of information on World Heritage and the PMA as part of the school curriculum.
The PMA office is open to working with all schools by way of information dissemination on World Heritage and the PMA. We are particularly keen on developing working relationships with schools in Education Regions 7 and 8 within the vicinity of the PMA.
The PMA Office is aware of the need to sensitize our future leaders and resource managers of the importance of World Heritage Status and the Pitons Management Area. With this in mind, we are committed to continued information dissemination and face-to-face presentations to schools in a post-COVID19 era as we seek develop a partnership with the education sector towards “Restoring the Pride” of the PMA as a World Heritage Site.
