PM and team visits proposed new drag racing site in Dennery

The sport of Drag Racing in Saint Lucia has become synonymous with “the Base” or what it is more commonly known as the “Cacabef”.
Given that work on the new Hewanorra International Airport has commenced and includes the site of the “Cacabef” as part of the new airport project, we are working with local Motorsport entrepreneurs and enthusiasts to find a new permanent home for motorsports.
Yesterday morning, Minister for Youth and Sports who is also the Parliamentary Representative for Dennery South Hon. Edmund Estephane, Minister for Physical Planning Hon. Herod Stanislas, along with a team from the Department of Physical Planning, members of the local motorsports racing community and I visited a proposed site in Dennery for the establishment of the new facility.
We are committed to working together to make this a reality and I thank the Motorsports community for their cooperation and support to help develop and take the sport to the next level.
