Police commissioner Desir says regional and international help to fight crime. St Lucia have recorded 41 homicides so far this year with most of them being gun crimes. Over the weekend there were three homicides including 72 year old Diana Theodore, a British National who lived in Choiseul.
The commissioner said, “At that point I think we need some help whichever way whether it is in the region or internationally to solve these issues.”
The 12 RSS member who was here left the country last Sunday. They were posted here for three weeks to assist the police.
Desir continues to say, “The officers that were here were not involved in investigations, we have persons from RSS assisting with investigations they do not go out there on patrol, the 12 officers we had from RSS were assisting SSU in terms of going out there adding to the numbers that we had.”
He said a lot of these homicides cannot be prevented but he thinks the police action should be to solve those homicides.
